Carbon Literacy

Carbon Literacy is an awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.

This knowledge is what is required to create a positive shift in how mankind lives, works and behaves in response to climate change. Typical realised carbon savings achieved are 5 – 15% per person (Jacobs 2018).

If you are interested in booking a place on our Carbon Literacy courses please contact us.

Our Carbon Literacy courses run over two days and are designed for the SME sector. They are delivered by the Carbon Literacy Project and cover four topics :

  • Climate Change and its impacts : Carbon Footprints
  • Policy position, Role of SMEs, Co-Benefits of Climate Action
  • Personal & Business Carbon Footprints : Case Studies
  • Action Planning & Communicating Climate Change

A typical day will cover two topics in the morning, with a break for lunch and then a trip into the Estate to visit one of our climate action initiatives – usually with hands-on experience such as water sampling or tree planting.

Members of your team who complete our course can be certified as Carbon Literate and if your workforce has these skills you can be accredited as a Carbon Literate Organisation.
