Nourish

A partnership programme delivering positive environmental impact in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales

The 20,000-acre Swinton Estate is at the forefront of natural, sustainable solutions to climate change and biodiversity recovery.

Our Nourish Partnership gives businesses a practical way to work towards carbon neutrality and helps developers meet local biodiversity commitments. By supporting tree planting, wildlife corridors and healthier soils, partners invest in verified Carbon Plus credits while our nature recovery work also delivers Biodiversity Net Gain units across a range of habitats.

Alongside this, we offer environmental forums through the Climate Action Academy, Carbon Literacy training and SDG-led investment opportunities, as well as wider partnership benefits such as corporate wellbeing initiatives and support for local community projects.

We’ve only just started

We have already reached carbon neutral status…

We’ve only just started

Over the last 20 years we have worked hard to reduce our consumption and emissions on the Estate, and we are now carbon neutral. We have no intention of stopping there. Our ambition is to reduce our footprint further by 30% by 2040.

Running alongside this has been our investment in carbon sequestration through the ongoing management of our peatland and woodland.

This is just the start of our journey.

Where are we heading?

Our ambition is visionary…

Where are we heading?

Our ambition is visionary: to reintegrate and restore nature throughout our operation, reverse the biodiversity loss and take the lead in the natural capital revolution. This is within reach.

We continue to improve our net carbon negative position, and our ambition is to help our wider community work towards this.

We know that through peatland restoration we can encourage areas of active bog, and tree planting and meadow restoration in the right places can achieve multiple benefits.

How are we getting there?

On the ground, tangible and accountable…

How are we getting there?

Our mission is to deliver tangible and measurable environment benefit that improves biodiversity, soil health and water quality, reduces emissions and sequesters carbon.

This is supported by our environmental education scheme, the Climate Action Academy, the delivery of a Corporate & Community Welfare Programme, and the development of an investment community through our Nourish partnerships.
