Carbon Plus

Swinton Estate are suppliers of Carbon Credits to businesses and individuals that want to decarbonise using a credible pathway, using the voluntary market to off-set emissions.

We are a trusted source that also delivers natural enhancement. This is the “Plus” to our carbon : we go beyond sequestering carbon.

We do this in two ways : our scheme contributes to enriched biodiversity, wildlife corridors, cleaner water, better soil health, reduces fertilizer and pesticide use, improves health and wellbeing and “slows the flow” with natural flood management that helps prevent sewage spills.

We also offer the “plus” at a tangible level. Our investors have access, via our Nourish Partnership, to our Environment Forum days and Carbon Literacy training schemes where decision makers and corporate teams spend time on the Estate, broaden their knowledge, visit the projects and see the positive impact at first hand.

Our carbon credits are independently verified and assessed. As part of the Carbon Plus offer, we apply additional levels of assessment and monitoring for all our projects – please visit our How page for further information.

Peatland Carbon Plus

This four-year project was completed in 2020. An extensive tract of peatland on Masham Moor has been restored, bringing it back to life and creating a carbon sink. This project delivers 17,000 tonnes of carbon capture (CO2e) per annum. Further details on the measures taken to achieve this are at our Peatland Restoration page.

Woodland Carbon Plus

The Sole Beck, Stonefold and Hilltop multifunctional woodland project will sequester 10,000 tonnes of carbon (CO2e) over 70 years. For further details on the planting programme and anticipated environmental benefits please visit our Woodland Creation page.
