The start of 2026 saw the Proprietor & Fourth Earl of Swinton, Mark Cunliffe-Lister, partake in several events focused on the future of nature finance and landscape management. Bringing a landowner’s perspective to the conversation, he shared insights into the role estates can play in developing practical, nature-based solutions.
In February, Mark spoke at the Natural Flood Management (NFM) Community of Practice – Green Finance for Natural Flood Management, hosted by the University of Leeds, where practitioners, academics, and policy specialists gathered to discuss how green finance can support natural flood management. He also joined discussions at Reset Connect North 2026 and attended the Natural Environment Investment Readiness Fund (NEIRF) Networking & Learning Day 2026, organised by the Ecosystems Knowledge Network with support from Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, helping to advance dialogue around regional nature markets and the growing role of private investment in environmental restoration.
